John Zarou joins Engineered Tax Services as Director of Business Development

Engineered Tax Services (ETS) has bolstered its expertise with the recent hiring of John Zarou. “We are excited to have John join both our business development and cost segregation teams. Through his experiences with specialty tax studies and relationship building with clients, he will prove to be a tremendous asset to ETS,” says Julio Gonzalez, CEO of Engineered Tax Services. John has done the work, defended the work and sold the work at the very highest level in the industry.

John is an architect with 15 years extensive commercial real estate cost segregation experience. Most recently, he established and led a national commercial real estate cost segregation practice for Baker Tilly, where he managed staff and performed depreciation and green energy studies on a variety of commercial properties nationwide, including office buildings, shopping centers, manufacturing facilities, data centers, restaurants, NFL stadiums, golf courses, hotels, auto dealerships, pharmaceutical facilities, apartment buildings, medical buildings, airport hangers and casinos.

In addition, John has worked with clients along with their architects and engineers on pre-construction design, implementation and cost estimation of building components and tenant improvements to better qualify the components for a depreciation study under IRS regulations and guidelines.

His highlights were running, managing and business development in Cost Segregation for:

• Baker Tilly (Beers + Cutler) – 2004 – 2013

• Deloitte & Arthur Andersen – 1999 – 2002

John also is a prominent member of the American Society of Cost Segregation Professionals. His knowledge level, ability to present on the topic and sell to CPAs/Prospects at a high level is excellent!

John’s primary focus will be with Business Development, however, with his knowledge and experience he will also be a Technical Advisor to the Cost Segregation team. He was able to develop significant iPad applications to do all the engineering onsite through the use of iPads, which helped Baker Tilly’s efficiencies by 300% in terms of more accurate work and quicker production. Having in technical skill sets on calls, presentations and conferences will be invaluable.
