Take Advantage of the 179D Tax Deduction Before it’s Gone!

Architects are eligible for a federal tax benefit of up to $1.80 per square foot for the design of energy-efficient public buildings.
The three-year look back window for architects to claim the 179D tax deduction is growing smaller. As a reminder, 179D EPAct expired December 31, 2013 and although we are hopeful, an extension of the tax incentive remains unknown. However, there are still plenty of eligible projects completed within the current 179D time frame that can be looked at. Now is the time to have these projects certified by a professional engineering firm such as ETS in order to claim the maximum deduction.

HOW ARCHITECTS ARE USING 179D EPACT TO THEIR ADVANTAGE:

  • Increase cash flow and earn recognition for your design of energy efficient systems in new or existing public building designed prior to Dec. 31, 2013.
  • Build client trust & good will for private property owners who are also eligible for incentives on buildings placed into service after January 1, 2006.
  • 179D had also served as a tool for competitive bids on public building projects.

Take advantage of this valuable tax deduction before it’s gone. At Engineered Tax Services (ETS), we partner with architects nationally to provide independent, third-party certification as required by the IRS to help them take advantage of these significant tax benefits.
