ETS Employees Read with Roosevelt Elementary School Students

This past week, the team at Engineered Tax Services (ETS) met with students from Roosevelt Elementary School by volunteering at the Roosevelt Rockets Reading Buddies program. This is a tradition that began five years ago after the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut. This is especially important to CEO of ETS, Julio Gonzalez, with the recent school shootings that happened in Parkland. That’s why the ETS team continues to read with the students and create positive relationships amongst them.

“It is important to bring positivity to these children’s lives – especially after the recent violence in schools. Some children are even afraid to go to school after the recent shootings, and that’s not the way it should be. It is more important than ever to continue to encourage these students,” said Mr. Gonzalez.

Roosevelt Elementary Reading Buddies

Quality Control Accountant for ETS, Nate Rodriguez, goes to Roosevelt Elementary every single month. He says he really enjoys it.

“What a great pleasure it is to be able to volunteer in the Roosevelt Rockets Reading Buddies program. How rewarding it is to see the looks on the children’s faces when they receive their free book – courtesy of Julio’s personal friend – author, James P. Crocker. What a joy it is to give back to the community in such a powerful way,” said Mr. Rodriguez.

“The program not only brings joy to the students but also a joy to the employees who participate. It’s a very positive event that ETS looks forward to each month! That’s why we have continued to do this for five years,” said Mr. Gonzalez.

Not only do ETS employees donate books, but they also donate their time and lunch hours to read with these kids.

“The goal is to brighten and raise the children’s and staff’s spirits and make them excited to enter school each day – ready to learn and ready to grow,” said Mr. Gonzalez.
